Gunmen Kill 3 Policemen, Kidnap Syrian National in Sokoto

Unknown gunmen on Wednesday killed three policemen and kidnapped one Abdul Nasir, an engineer and a Syrian national  working with Triacta Construction Company in Sokoto State.

Media investigation on Wednesday revealed that the gunmen stormed the quarry in a car with tinted glasses and attacked the place.

The gunmen reportedly opened fire on the policemen immediately  and kidnapped  the foreigner working as the manager of the site.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the Sokoto Police Command, Cordelia Nwiwe, confirmed the incident to  journalists  on Wednesday.

She said the incident occurred at the company’s quarry site  at Lambar Mazaru village in Bodinga Local Government Area of the state.

Nwiwe said the three policemen guarding the premises were confirmed dead in the hospital, while the foreigner was abducted and taken to an unknown place.

She however, said that the affected policemen received treatment at an undisclosed hospital after they were shot during a crossfire while attempting to rescue the foreigner.

The PPRO stated that armed policemen had been deployed  to the area in order to rescue the foreigner.

She added that the police had commenced investigation into the matter with a view to freeing the abducted Syrian national and arresting the culprits.

Meanwhile, the bodies of the slain policemen had been deposited at the mortuary of the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto.
