Wife of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, who is the former Vice
President and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Mrs.
Titi Abubakar, on Tuesday urged voters in Kwara State to go and collect their Permanent
Voter’s Cards (PVCs) and vote out All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal
government in both February 16 and March 2 general election.
Mrs. Atiku also asked voters to wait till results
are announced to safeguard their votes and prevent rigging.
She added that her husband’s clamour for the
restructuring of the country is aimed at bringing freedom to the federating
units in Nigeria.
The former second lady stated this in Ilorin, the
Kwara State capital, at the PDP women rally for Atiku/Obi presidential campaign
organisation.
She added that “I have brought you a message of
hope. I am assuring you that the Atiku and Peter Obi presidency will signal the
end of unemployment and poverty in the country.
“The refusal of President Muhammadu Buhari to assent
to the Electoral Bill is a design to rig the forthcoming elections. I urge all
of us to vote and guard our votes jealously. After the counting of the votes at
the polling units I want you to follow them to the collation centres.
“They will come to you with money wanting to buy
your PVCs from you, collect the money from them and refuse to exchange your
PVCs with money and vote them out.
“My husband has great plans for the youths as he is
an employer of labour. Our youths are not lazy at all. He has assured us of wiping away tears from
the faces of the youths.
“They claim to be fighting corruption, but it was
during President Olusegun Obasanjo and Vice President Atiku that all the anti-graft
agencies were established.”
Earlier, wife of Senate President, Bukola Saraki, who
is the President of Wellbeing Foundation in Africa and Worldwide, Mrs.
Oluwatoyin Saraki, hailed the women for turning out enmass for the rally,
appealing to them to go and collect their PVCs.
Mrs. Saraki added that "the APC-led federal
government has failed the people of the country, and it is high time we voted
them out without further delay in the polls."
She stressed further that "we helped them into
power and they started impoverish Nigerians and even attacked me and many other
Nigerians who brought them into office, and thanked God their attacks on me has
failed with the power of God."
Saraki however said: “I am appealing to the women to come out massively and cast
their votes for the PDP candidates at all levels. PDP is the only party that
guarantees lifting us out of poverty, provision of education and assured future
for our children."
