Edo Community Refuses BUA’s Operations in Okpella

Members of the Imiefo kindred of Kalaba Community of Afokpella - Okpella in Etsako East Local Government Area, Edo State, have rejected the consent purportedly given to Obu Cement Company Limited (OCCL), an arm of BUA Group of Companies, by the traditional ruler of the Okpella clan, the Okuokpellagbe of Okpella, Alhaji A.Y.F. Dirisu,to operate on their land.
The community is irked by the fact that the traditional ruler gave the consent without consulting its members.
They objected to the operations of the company on their land and advised the promoters not to venture into the land.
They faulted the purported owner’s consent allegedly issued by the traditional ruler to the company to operate on their land without their consent.
