Salah: Sultan Calls on Muslim to Watch Out For New Moon
...MURIC Chides Fayose, Protesters, as Buhari Returns

The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Jama’atul Nasir Islam, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar lll, has urged Muslims to watch out for the new moon of Dhulhajj1 438AH from August 22.

The Sultan made this known in a message to Muslims issued by the Chairman, Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Sultanate Council, Prof. Sambo Junaidu.

“This is to inform the Muslim Ummah that August 22, which is equivalent to the 29th day of Zulki’ida 1438AH, shall be the day to look for the new moon of Dhulhajj,” the statement read.

“Muslims are, therefore, requested to start looking for the new moon on Tuesday and report its sighting to the nearest district or village head for onward communication to the Sultan.”

Meanwhile, the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) group has slammed Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State and the #ResumeOrResign protesters following the return of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Buhari arrived Abuja around 4.35 pm on Saturday having spent 103 days in London on medical vacation since 7th May, 2017.

During his absence, the #ResumeOrResign protesters, led by Charles Oputa, AKA Charlie Boy, held protests in Abuja calling for the President’s return or his resignation while Fayose allegedly promised to commit suicide if the President returns to Nigeria alive.

However, MURIC, in a statement signed by its President, Professor Ishaq Akintola, said the protesters manifested heartlessness, pettiness and the inhumanity of man to man and wondered if Fayose would make good his promise.

“We thank Almighty Allah for his recovery. We also thank Nigerians for praying for him during his illness,” the statement read.

“We recall the #resumeorresign and #ourmumudondo protests staged in Abuja and London against the continued absence of Buhari. Those protesters manifested heartlessness, pettiness and the inhumanity of man to man.

“There was no reasonable casus belli for protests when no law has been broken and there was no palpable lacuna in the presidency. How can you protest against a man for seeking medical attention? It is the height of wickedness.

“It is clear to discerning minds that Buhari’s departure from London was not due to pressure from protesters. He had confirmed two weeks ago that he was physically fit but waiting for his doctor’s orders.

“He had also said he was feeling homesick and willing to return to Nigeria. Besides, those protests stood logic on its head. Where on earth have you seen a man who won a presidential election abandoning his plump job, the pump and pageantry just for the fun of it?"He asked
