VCs to Converge on Ilorin to Brainstorm on Challenges in Varsities

Vice Chancellors and their principal officers across all the universities in Nigeria, under the aegis of Conference of Association of Vice-Chancellors will converge on Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete in the state to discuss on the way forward for  nation's universities.

The 32nd national conference of the association  will hold between 8 October and 12 October at Malete and will be declared open by the state Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed.
 The Chairman, Local Organising Committee of the conference, Professor Sakah Saidu Mahmud, Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic of ‎the host university, disclosed this at Malete during a news conference.

The university Don, who also doubles as Provost, College of Humanities, Management and Social Sciences of the university said all was set to host the nation's vice chancellors and their principals which include their Librarians, Bursars, Registrars and Director of Academic Planning to have a memorable and pleasant stay.

He said the central theme of the 32nd Conference is,"24th Century, University Education in Nigeria, Prospect and Challenges, while there are other several other critical sub themes relevant to the development of the universities that would  be discussed by other distinguished scholars.

He exuded confidence ‎that after the conference, the nation's universities would not be the same again, as there would be remarkable improvements in the nation's universities.

Professor Mahmud said hosting the conference is important and strategic to the university, as the institution would explore the opportunity to showcase it's excellence.

"We will expose ourselves to the world, to let them know our innovations and uniqueness which stands us tall among other universities in Nigeria." he stressed.
He said the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, and the governor of the state, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, would grace the occasion, while Afe Babalola will present the keynote address with the title, "University Management and Economic Challenge: The Nigeria Education Perspective"   

He also said that arrangements have been concluded to make sure that the visitors  visit strategic and important places in the state to know the abundant opportunities that abound in the state before they depart.

"We have also arranged for exhibition where talented artists in the state will present their various crafts, artworks, and monuments  ‎for showcase to the visitors" he added.
