Saraki Orders Senate Committee On Petroleum To Halt Recess Over Fuel Scarcity

Senate President Bukola Saraki has directed the Senate Committee on Petroleum Resources to cut short its recess and convene a stakeholders meeting over fuel scarcity being experienced across the country.
This was disclosed in Thursday by Kabir Marafa, Chairman of the Committee, in a statement which revealed that the meeting would hold on January 4.
The statement explained that the meeting was meant to address the lingering fuel scarcity with a view to putting a complete stop to the unsavoury development.
Marafa added that the Committee also summoned Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, Minister of state for Petroleum Resources and other stakeholders.
“The meeting which will be held in the senate hearing room 221 and its proceedings aired live on the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), is meant to address the lingering fuel scarcity bedevilling the nation in the last few weeks with a view to put a complete stop to the unsavoury development,” the statement read.
“The senate which is presently on Christmas and New Year break is billed to resume committee work for budget defence on January 9, and commence plenary on January 16.”
