Nigerian main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has elected Prince Uche Secondus from Rivers State as its National Chairman.

Secondus polled 2000 votes to emerge winner, while two other main contenders, Professor Tunde Adeniran with 230 votes and Chief Raymond Dokpesi with 66 votes rejected the election on the premise that it was rigged and the outcome predetermined, after delegates at the party’s convention were handed a “Unity List” to vote accordingly which listed Secondus as chosen candidate for the office of national chairman.
Adeniran and Dokpesi stormed out of the Eagle Square venue of the convention before voting was over.
Meanwhile, Senator Gamana Babawo Garba was also elected Deputy National Chairman while Umar Ibrahim was chosen as National Secretary.
