Nigeria is set to host journalists across the world in June through the International Press Institute (IPI) Congress 2018.
This was disclosed by Barbara Tronfi, when addressing a news conference in Abuja recently.
She expressed the joy of IPI members globally to come to Nigeria and share their experiences of journalism practice as she went on to visit all facilities put in place by local organising committee and the IPI Secretariat in Nigeria.
The theme of this year’s congress is 'Why Journalism Matters (And how to make people like it)'. There will be network sessions. The pre-congress worship focus on covering elections-possible partnership.
The former chairman of Independent Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega, will deliver a short presentation while the Liberian President, George Weah, will lead other very important dignitaries to the event.
The IPI director is scheduled to meet two notable media owners in Nigeria, owners of Television Continental, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Mr John Momoh of Channels TV.
Tronfi is also set to pay a courtesy visit to the Governor of Lagos state on Friday.
Meanwhile, two vehicles have been branded for the IPI congress in Abuja.
