Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, has appointed former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Prof Chukwuma Soludo, to head the board of Agulu Lake Resort centre.

Obiano, who inaugurated the board at the governor's lodge Amawbia on Tuesday, said he had confidence in the Professor of Econometric to steer the board successfully.

Agulu Lake Resort which was initially started by former state Governor, Mr Peter Obi, was completed by Obiano and handed over to Golden Tulip for effective management.

The board consisted of a nine-man committee including the state Commissioner for Finance, Mr Ifeatu Onejeme; the Managing Director, Anambra State Investments Promotion and Protection Agency (ANSIPPA), Mr Joe Billy Ekwunife.

Others members are Mrs Ifeyinwa Obegolu, Chief Patrick Chidolue, Mr Chris Ameke, the General Manager Golden Tulip, West Africa, Mr Amaechi Ndili, the CEO Stanel Company, Mr Stanley Uzochukwu and Dr Chike Akinyili.

Obiano urged them to direct the affairs of the Hotel with the joint venture Agreement between Anambra State Government and Golden Tulip Company.
The governor directed them to promptly build the hotel’s capacity, occupancy and advance it to world class standard.

The hotel, Obiano had promised, would take off before the inauguration of his second term in office, which comes up on March 17, as a sort of commitment to Agulu people, where his predecessor hails, of his love for them.

He said: "You are to ensure the prosperity of the hotel and direct its affairs while meeting the appropriate interests of its stakeholders.
"Determine the company's vision and mission to guide and set the pace for its current operations and future development.’’

The governor expressed confidence in the board, re-echoing that his administration was ready to partner any company or individual to further attract other recreational facilities to project it to global recognition.
