PDP Removes Haliru Bello as BoT Chairman, Jibril Takes
over
As the leadership tussle of Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Board of Trustees continues, the party has ignored postponement of it meeting by the National Working Committee (NWC), heard the meeting which led to the removal Dr. Haliru Bello Mohammed as its acting Chairman.
The board which met on Wednesday at Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja directed its Secretary, Senator Walid Jibril, to act as acting Chairman (he still remains the secretary).
The development was announced to journalists today by Senator Jibril after the meeting of the BoT.
Addressing journalists, Jibril said the
meeting resolved among other interventions to request the party stakeholder
from the North-east to meet and shortlist one or three candidates and submit
same to the meeting of the party national caucus to be held next Monday.
“The BoT has asked the North-east to submit
one to three names to the national body,” he said.
