An All Progressives Congress (APC) member in Ekiti State, William Ayegoro, was attacked and killed by gunmen.
Eyewitnesses said Ayegoro was shot on the head by gunmen riding on a motorcycle on Igbehin Street in Atikankan area of the city.
He was rushed to the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital in Ado-Ekiti by Good Samaritans where doctors battled to save his life.
The Nation reports that Ayegoro, who arrived EKSUTH unconscious, lost so much blood in the attack and died in the early hours of Thursday.
Eyewitnesses said the attackers rode past the deceased, the rider applied the brake and one of them shot Ayegoro on the head.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Caleb Ikechukwu, said he has not been briefed on the killing.
The shooting occurs weeks after Opeyemi Bamidele, a chieftain of the party, was shot during a reception in honour of Kayode Fayemi, APC gubernatorial candidate in the state’s forthcoming election.
