Police Extend Deadline for Automated Licences May 31

The Inspector-General of Police (IG) Solomon E. Arase, has ordered the extension of the deadline for the on-going revalidation of Tinted Permit, Police Character Clearance and Firearm Licences from March 18, 2016 to May 31, 2016.

According to the Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, ACP Olabisi Kolawole, this extension has become imperative to enable members of the public seamlessly key into the electronic platform initiative of the Nigeria Police Force Central Information System (NCIS).

The IG, while directing all state Commands Commissioners of Police to ensure that nobody is exploited and extorted on account of revalidating tinted permit, firearms licence and police character certificate, as revalidation is free of charge, warned that those who are yet to complete their automated licence process are not subjected to unnecessary harassment and embarrassment by policemen in their respective Commands.


The IG wishes to reassure the public of the commitment of the Force to the provision of round-the-clock security for the public. Citizens are further enjoined to continue to support and assist the police in its constitutional task of safeguarding the nation.
