Six APC Henchmen Who Seem to be after Nigerian President Buhari’s Office



Even as the Federal Government grapples with multiple challenges, six chieftains of the All Progressive Congress are in competition for the presidency ahead of 2019.
The six are believed to be positioning themselves in anticipation that President Muhammadu Buhari will not seek a second term in office after 2019.
The secret aspirants include three serving governors, one ex- governor and a former vice president.
1. Zamfara Governor, Abdulaziz Yari
The Zamfara governor,the Chairman of the Governors’ Forum, is widely seen to be nursing presidential ambition in 2019. He is believed to be reaching out to stakeholders while his position as the chair of the governors’ forum gives him needed visibility and connections. Yari, a two term governor is reputed to be a crafty political schemer who executes his political agenda under disguise.

2.Sokoto Governor, Aminu Tambuwal
The presidential ambition of the former speaker is not hidden as he was prevailed to drop the ambition in the last poll because of the Buhari factor. As a governor, Tambuwal is reported to have been strengthened in his resolve to seek the top job. First, he and his supporter,former governor, Aliyu Wamakko, are in full control of the party in Sokoto state. Two, he has his feet within the National Assembly through his ally, Yakubu Dogara, the speaker of the House of Representatives. This is alongside his network of ex-legislators who served in the last dispensation. Three, he is reputed to be fighting the needed battle against fellow contenders across the North even as he maintains a dignified relationship with Aso Rock.

3. Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai
The Kaduna chief executive is a strong contender widely perceived as a favourite among some close circle of leaders around President Buhari. His ambition reportedly predates now as he lost out during the succession war after Obasanjo presidency. The governor is repeatedly cited as an ambitious contender by friends and foes from within and outside Kaduna state. He is however perceived to be pursuing the agenda using his performance in Lugard House as a test case and a showcase of his capacity to rule the nation. He is thus tackling key challenges facing the north which others are running away from. For example, he is set to regulate religious preaching, a very bold action unprecedented in the histroy of northern Nigeria.

4. Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso
The water engineer has an intimidating profile which he believes qualify him to seek the presidency. A former deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, a two term governor, a former minister of Defence, a former ambassador plenipotentiary and now a senator, the dankano is determined to seek the presidency in 2019. In the last APC primary, he came second to Buhari.
His ambition is creating ripples within the APC. The Senator known for his strong will is likely to dare all odds to seek the ticket if incumbent is out of the equation.

5. Senate President, Bukola Saraki
The number three citizen has always been a presidential material with elements of audacious countenance. Long before he emerged number three, his machinery was already sharpened to seek the top job.

His albatross are the many opponents who have dug political landmines around him. Many of his admirers hold that his current travails are linked to 2019. Reports indicate that nothing may stop the scion of Saraki dynasty from seeking the presidency.
6.Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar
Turaki Adamawa is one contender many have come to know as ever present.Wealthy,tested and strong willed, his interest in the presidency he always attributed to his desire to serve. As much as he has pledged allegiance to President Buhari, indications are that Turaki will seek the top job if Buhari opts not to run in 2019.
