We Warned Buhari Not To Appoint Alhassan a Minister, He Didn't Listen, El-Rufai Laments

Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai,Bon Friday responded to the publicly declared support pledged to former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, by a serving minister, Aisha Jummai Alhassan, in President Muhammadu Buhari government, lamenting that the President ignored their warning not to appoint Alhassan a minister.

The state governor, who spoke with State House correspondents after meeting with Buhari, said he was not surprised that the Minister of Women Affairs would openly endorsed Atiku.

According to El rufai, the minister  was not in Buhari’s camp during the presidential primary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and has never supported the president’s ideology.

While advising Nigerians not to be surprised or shocked at the minister’s outburst, El-Rufai disclosed that Alhassan did not also vote for Buhari during the APC presidential primary in Lagos.

The governor noted that President Buhari ignored reservations expressed by party members when selecting her as a minister.

The governor however stated that Alhassan’s retention or otherwise as a cabinet minister is at “the discretion of the President”.
