Breaking News: Floods Takes over Kano Metropolis


The poor drainage system in Kano city has been exposed as flood submerged some parts of the city.

It was learnt that the flood which stated immediately after a 50-minute rainfall which began with high winds at the time people were rushing to close from their business premises.

The flood sacked traders at Kurmi market and some residents from their houses around Yan mota in Dala area of Kano metropolitan  as a result of a heavy rain, which started at about 5.41 pm without stop.

Residents of BUK road by Gadan Kaya, Zoo road by Total filling station, Zoo road housing estate, Dan Kura Adamu street of Gandun Albasa , Kofar Nassarawa were cut off by the flood.

The flood which some residents described as wicked, entered some of the houses and forced resident to flee while others rescue those whose houses were taken over by the water along Total filing station by zoo road.

Journalists were informed that Kofar Ruwa market, Kwari textile markets were all invaded by the flood forcing traders to flee  for their lives as their shops flooded with water.

A resident of Tukuntawa quarters in the city,  Aminu told journalists on phone that “flood takeover my entire house including the other neighborhood.”
