EFCC Confirms Moves To Extradite Diezani

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed that plans were under way to extradite the immediate past minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke from the United Kingdom.

Speaking at an interactive session with journalists, civic groups and social media personalities, the acting Chairman of the commission, Ibrahim Magu, who made the disclosure, said: “I want you to know that nobody will go unpunished. We are even seeking to extradite Diezani, but investigations are still ongoing.

“We have reached a level where nobody can stop us in the fight against corruption, but we all must realise that we are all stakeholders, and this fight is for the future generation.”

He stated that all Nigerians must play their roles, “because the anti-graft agency can only do its best; but we must support the agency, and the law should take its course, policies should be strengthened, and punishment must be meted out in good time.”

Magu attributed industrial actions and separatist agitations to corruption, insisting that the vice was at the heart of Nigeria’s challenges.

According to the EFCC boss, “Every evil thing happening in Nigeria is caused by corruption, agitation, whatever, the root is corruption.

“I am telling you the primary thing is political goodwill. If the leader is committed to fighting corruption, nothing can stop us.

“All these boys and girls crossing the Mediterranean to go to Europe is because of corruption‎.

“What we are saying is, let us do the right thing.‎ We should insist the right thing should be done. We all have a duty to. We are all anointed by God to fight corruption.

‎”There are strikes here and there caused by corruption. If there is corruption in the EFCC expose it. If I am corrupt expose me. I can’t be corrupt and be fighting corruption.”

While speaking on corruption among members of his organisation, Magu challenged anyone with evidence of graft against him to go ahead and expose him.
