Tears As Deji Tinubu Is Buried In Lagos

Family members, friends and well-wishers were in tears as the remains of Deji Tinubu, Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State on Commerce and Industry was buried on Tuesday at the Vaults and Gardens, Ikoyi, Lagos.
It would be recalled that Tinubu, a sports icon, who was recently appointed as the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode on Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives, slumped on Thursday while playing a five-a-side match with fellow participants at a retreat of members of the Lagos State Executive Council and Permanent Secretaries at the Jubilee Chalets, Epe.
Medical personnel rushed to give him first aid and he was immediately taken to the General Hospital, Epe, where he was confirmed dead.
Before then, he was the Chairman of the Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC) and Special Adviser to Governor Ambode on sports during which helped to actualise the hosting of the 2nd CAF Beach Soccer Cup of Nations in Lagos State in December 2016.Image result for deji tinubu burial
A funeral service was held for him on Thursday morning at the City of David parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Victoria Island.
In attendance were Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos; Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State; Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote; wife of the Vice President, Dolapo Osinbajo; a former Governor of Anambra, Peter Obi and members of the State Executive Council, among others.
At the Vaults and Gardens where Tinubu was buried, Amosun eulogised Tinubu and lamented that he died on his birthday while Dangote said late Tinubu would “surely be missed.”
The late Tinubu was the son of late Kafaru Tinubu, one of Nigeria’s foremost police officers. He is survived by an aged mother Bintu Tinubu and wife Yemisi. His elder brother is Wale Tinubu, the CEO of Oando plc.
